Joana Sousa, PhD
Graduated in Applied Health Sciences from the School of Medicine at the University of Minho, she has been engaged in health research since 2010.
Her work has focused on several rare diseases, including Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3, Action Myoclonus Renal Failure, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Holding a PhD with a focus on the intersection of academia and business, she aims to swiftly translate research-based knowledge into clinical applications and patient care.
Her expertise includes the genetic manipulation of the Caenorhabditis elegans nematode to create disease models and evaluate nematode behaviors.
